Species Spotlight | Java Fern

Aquatics expert Tom Sarac provides an in-depth overview of one of the most popular aquarium plants – Java Fern! In the wild, it’s found along the banks of rivers and streams throughout most of Southeast Asia. An epiphyte, Java Fern grows on rocks, wood and other surfaces in the aquarium, holding on tightly with its root systems. When planting Java Fern, ensure the rhizome is not submerged below the substrate, as this will lead to it rotting and the plant dying!
