The Betta Premium Aquarium Kit is designed to replicate the natural tropical habitats of B. splendens and comes equipped with custom filtration, natural soft glow LED lighting and a convenient pre-set heater.
What makes the Betta aquarium kit the ultimate Betta habitat?
The Betta aquarium kit has a number of features designed specifically for Bettas:
1. Gentle intake: Multiple slots provide a greater area for slow water entry, helping to protect delicate Betta fins.
2. Diffusion Chamber: Patent pending Diffusion Chamber disperses flow before polishing and returning water back into the aquarium, mimicking the clean, slow-moving currents of wild Betta habitats.
3. Soft-glow LED lighting: Energy-efficient lighting offers a relaxed atmosphere while mimicking a Betta’s naturally shaded wild habitat.
4. Pre-set Betta heater: Consistently maintains ideal water temperature to replicate Bettas’ natural tropical habitat (78 °F / 26 °C).
My aquarium water is full of organic waste (dead leaves, fish excrement, uneaten food, etc.). How can I get rid of them?
My aquarium water is cloudy. What are the various types of ways I can clear it?
Do you offer any water care products to help clear up a cloudy aquarium?
How can I fix the most common aquarium water issues?
How do you prevent algae growth?
Is it true that tap water can be harmful to fish?
How do you clean an aquarium?
How do I remove algae in my aquarium that may be accumulating on the inside glass surface?
Whether it is seen or not, algae removal needs to be a regular weekly maintenance task. This is performed simply by going over the inner glass surface with a pad or an aquarium magnet, such as the Fluval Razor+ 2-in-1 Algae Magnet (#11083 & #11084).
How do you cycle an aquarium?
This is my first aquarium. Do you have any general decorating tips?
How do I know what substrate is best for my aquarium?
Do you have any aquascaping tips specific to nano/desktop aquariums?
What should I do if my pump output is weak?
Ensure that your water level is within the ideal range indicated in your instruction manual, which came with the product packaging or can be viewed on this website by visiting your aquarium product page. Additionally, ensure that the pump has been well cleaned.
What live plant species do you recommend for this aquarium?
The LED lighting supplied with this tank is suited for plants requiring low to medium light levels. This includes, amongst others, Anubias nana and Java moss.
Do you have the PAR specs available for the lighting system of this aquarium?
Due to the size of this aquarium and the use of energy-efficicent LEDs, these specifications are not relevant and as such are not available.
Does the dimensional information of this aquarium include the integrated filtration compartments?
Yes, the dimensions do include the integrated filter.
Why is the water level in the rear compartment housing the pump dropping more rapidly than the other compartments and the main portion of the tank?
Can I keep more than one Betta in my Betta aquarium kit?
No – male Bettas must absolutely be kept alone, and the Betta aquarium kit is too small to accommodate multiple females.
What other fish can I keep with my Betta?
The Betta aquarium kit is sized for a single Betta, and as such you shouldn’t add any other fish. A small snail, such as a Nerite snail, could live with the Betta comfortably.
Can I keep shrimp with my Betta?
We do not recommend it: shrimp closely resemble the natural diet of Bettas, and as such, your Betta may attack or eat smaller shrimp species and shrimplets.
Other than a Betta, what other fish / invertebrates can I keep in the Betta aquarium kit?
The Betta aquarium kit has been specifically designed for Bettas. Fish that live in similarly warm, slow-moving waters, such as other Anabantids, small species of Characins which inhabit small backwaters and tributaries, and many shrimp species, will also appreciate the Betta aquarium kit’s unique features!
The flow in my Betta aquarium kit seems weak. Is this normal?
Yes – the Betta aquarium kit is specifically designed to satisfy Bettas’ requirements of very clean water with very gentle flow.
Is the Betta aquarium kit big enough for a Betta?
The captive-bred varieties of Betta splendens available are slow moving fish and are not particularly good swimmers. In larger tanks with more powerful filtration, the fish are often blown around by the current, and will seek to bite off their fins to reduce weight. The Betta aquarium kit is large enough to provide ample swimming space for a single Betta, yet small enough to feature suitably gentle filtration and adequate heat dispersion.
I want to grow live plants in my Betta aquarium kit. Can I upgrade the lighting?
Yes! The Plant Nano Bluetooth LED (item 14539) or the C.O.B. Nano LED (item 14543) can be installed on the aquarium.
I found my fish stuck to the intake of the filter. Is the flow too strong?
The Betta aquarium kit features an expanded array of intake slots to reduce the intensity of water flow. If your fish became stuck to the intake of the filter, it’s likely that the fish was sick or weakened somehow.
How many hours per day should I have the lights on for?
We recommend a standard photoperiod of 10 to 12 hours.
Can I use Fluval Stratum in my Betta aquarium kit?
Absolutely! It’s great for live plants and the dark color contrasts beautifully with most Bettas.
